How to redact an image
- Drop the image in. The picture opens on a canvas you can draw straight on.
- Cover what has to stay private. Pick Blur or Pixelate, set the strength, then drag a box over anything sensitive. Move and resize the boxes until they cover it completely.
- Download the redacted copy. Save the result and use that one from now on.
Common questions
Is this safe for identity documents?
The covered area is rebuilt in your browser before the download, so nothing readable is left in the copy you save. Keep the original file private regardless, because the original still holds every pixel.
Blur or pixelate?
Blur is easier to see through but clever software can sometimes undo it. Pixelate is heavier and far harder to reconstruct, which is why it is the safer choice for a document number.
